Winter Trails

Happy 2018! 🎉 I’m so excited for this year and the adventures it will bring!
I realized a few days ago that I’ve never done a blog post in one of my favourite photo spots. We’ve come to this trail so many times over the years for both pictures and hikes. This spot adds some extra fun because the trail is right behind a whole bunch of houses and it feels like people can always see us through their windows 😂. They say a picture tells a thousands words, but what it doesn’t tell is what’s going on in the background. I thought I’d be fun to share a few stories from this little trail!
This trail is great in the winter because there’s enough shade if it’s too sunny but enough “stuff” to make it look interesting when it’s cloudy. The challenge is it’s usually freezing. But I put up with it 🤷🏼‍♀️. One time last year, I stood in the middle of the snow in a sleeveless prom dress for 30 minutes straight when it was -17 out. #commitment 😂 To make it even better, there were some kids in one of the backyards sitting in their hot tub watching us the whole time 😂. They probably thought we crazy but oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️😂.
This spot is also really nice in the summer when the wildflowers start to bloom. One time, I had quickly done my friend’s hair for a photo and decided to go to this spot since it was pretty close to her house. We drove her car over and were racing to get a picture quickly before she had to go to work. Then we realized that we had accidentally locked both of our car keys in her car. I think we had only like 10 minutes before she had to be at work so we both ran as fast as we could down the trail (in flip flops 😂) back to her house to get the spare key. Luckily, her dad was home so he drove us back to her car and I ripped her hair out in the minute drive since it had fallen out when we were running 😂. My friend made it to work just in time but it was definitely an adventure 😂🤷🏼‍♀️.

For these photos, I think we spent about 10 minutes there before we got too cold and left 😂. I did one of my favourite styles in my hair, a wrapped Pull Through Braid. There is a tutorial on my YouTube channel for a very similar style, this is just the half up version!

I hope you all have had a great start to the year! I can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring ☺️

  1. Great photos, I really like the colour of your sweater with the winter landscape colours, and the photos are well made too (my compliments to your photographer).
